Sugarpill Pretty Poison Lipstick Swatches and Review

Saturday, December 10, 2016

Sugarpill Cosmetics is one of my very favorite makeup brands out there - always unique, hyper pigmented, and the quality never disappoints! I was especially excited when I heard they were debuting their first line of lipsticks - and may or may not have jumped up and down when I found them in my mailbox to review (thank you again Amy)!

The line, entitled Pretty Poison, consists of 6 matte, vibrant shades spanning from a trademark red to a deep teal. All shades are vegan, cruelty free, and available for $20 each on Sugarpill's website. I found them very matte, but still comfortable to wear on the lips - and each shade was incredibly pigmented and true to color. I think my favorite is Cubby - such a "me" shade! Would you rock these lipsticks?

Girl Crush Lipstick (Barbie pink), Nurse (cool toned red), Spank (blue-based violet), U4EA (deep teal), Detox (hyper pigmented orange), Cubby (vibrant peachy pink)

Feeling Feline

TOP: c/o Samantha Pleet CHOKER: c/o Valfre (use code "Mermaidens" to get 20% off your first order!) SKIRT: American Apparel

Good morning! Today I'm sharing an outfit I've been wearing pretty much nonstop lately! As you know I am absolutely obsessed with cats - my cat, my friends' cats, feline clothing, accessories, etc, etc - so I of course fell head over heels (or, er, paws? Ba dum tiss) over this blouse from Samantha Pleet!

As you probably know by now, Samantha is one of my all time favorite designers - I'm always smitten by her clever, romantic, and inspiring pieces, and when I saw a shirt with a cats saucey face embroidered on it, I knew I had to have it! The black shade and fun silhouette makes it go with just about everything in my wardrobe - making it a purrfect stable item!

To continue the kitty theme, I paired it with a blush pink bow choker from Valfre, and my signature cat eye flick.

I hope you have an amazing Friday!

SWIMSUIT: c/o Margarita Mermaid BLANKET & SHELL PILLOW: c/o Seatail

That feeling when it's winter so it's too cold to be a mermaid outside so you bring the mermaid party inside...! I've been obsessed with the mermaid tail blankets popping up on my feed so I was over the moon when Seatail wanted to work with me! Their seafoam green blanket is an absolute dream 💖

Candyland: Candy Scented Makeup

Monday, November 28, 2016

This is something I've wanted to do forever - a post spotlighting two of my favorite things: sweets and makeup! Here, I've compiled some of my very favorite beauty products and the candy they smell like. This took me a couple weeks to put together and photograph - so I really hope you like it!

Prada Candy smells like caramel, vanilla
One of my very favorite perfumes, Prada's Candy has a very sweet scent with caramel and vanilla top notes.

Revlon ColorBurst Lacquer Balm * and OCC Lip Tar smell like peppermint
So many amazing lip products smell of peppermints - but my favorites have to be Revlon's lip balms and OCC's lip tars.

Inglot Lip Products smell like gummy blueberry sharks

NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss smells like starburst

Too Faced - The Chocolate Bar Eye Palette smells like chocolate
I absolutely HAD to include Too Faced's chocolate bar palette! They always completely knock it out of the park when it comes to themed packaging and product performance. I absolutely love this palette and it truly does smell exactly like chocolate. Anybody else eagerly awaiting the Too Faced peach makeup line?

MAC Liptensity Lipsticks * smells like vanilla
Now I cheated a little by using ice cream instead of candy - but I had to include MAC's famously amazing smelling vanilla lipsticks! Their new Liptensity Lipsticks are absolutely gorgeous too - featuring an wonderful range of shades from purple grays to berries, I'm absolutely smitten!

Milani Color Statement Lipstick smells like watermelon gummies/jolly ranchers

Did I miss anything? Let me know in the comments and I might do a part two! <3

Glossier Phase 2 Review and Swatches

Wednesday, November 23, 2016

While Glossier's first launches focused on creating the perfect, dewy base, Phase 2 is all about the fun extras - lipsticks in 6 shades and the Boy Brow among them. Here are my thoughts on the range!

Stretch Concealer in Light *
This concealer is very emollient, buildable, and completely melts into the skin. The end result covers up skin concerns like dark circles, but still looks very natural and lost lasting!

Generation G Lipstick Cake and Jam *
The Generation G lipsticks are like nothing else in my collection - matte, sheer, but you can build up the color depending on your preference. I really love how comfortable this feels on the lip, and how it's a matte sheer formula - not to mention the shades are gorgeous! I love Cake for a natural peachy pink, and Jam for a more intense, beautiful popsicle stain shade.

Boy Brow in Blond *
The Boy Brow has quickly become a favorite - the ability to, essentially, brush on your brows makes it so, so easy - and looks polished and natural at the same time! The Boy Brow has become a fast and firm favorite that has found its way into my everyday makeup routine.

Glossier is having a 20% off sitewide sale beginning November 25 through the weekend - and I already have my eyes set on their highlighter, Haloscope!

Photo Pendant Choker DIY with the HP Sprocket

Thursday, November 17, 2016

With the holidays fast approaching, I’m already planning what personalized gifts I should make for each of my loved ones - I have always felt that a handmade gift is so much more exciting to receive them a gift card, and always keep that in mind when planning for the holidays!

Enter HP’s mobile printer, Sprocket! This mobile printer connects to your phone and quickly prints out 2 x 3 photos with a sticker backing - truly perfect for diy projects!

I teamed up with HP to share how to make chokers with personalized photo charms - perfect for the upcoming party season!

You Will Need:
- HP Mobile Sprocket Printer
- Photos
- 1 x 1” Clear Domed Glass Circle Cabochon
- 1 x 1” Circle Bezel
- Jump Rings
- Choker Making Supplies
- Adhesive (that dries clear)

1. First things first, create your choker! I used mint and red velvet ribbon and a necklace making kit you can get at any craft store. I first learned how to make chokers a while ago thanks to some incredible choker tutorial videos on Youtube! I also put a jump ring in the middle of the choker.

2. Now, the fun part! Using your Sprocket printer, print out photos from your phone to use as your accent charm. It can be anything from photos of your pet, loved one, to flowers. I’m making these chokers for my mom and grammy, so for my grammy, I printed a photo of her wedding day. For my mother, I printed a cherished photo from her childhood with her own mother!

3. Once you have printed your photo, use a punch or cut the photo into a 1 x 1 inch circle. Peel the sticker paper off the back of your photo, and simply place in the circle bezel.

4. Using a glue that dries clear (I used Modge Podge), affix a 1 x 1” clear glass cabochon.

5. Next, using a new jump ring, attach the photo pendant to the choker.

Ta da, you are done! There you have it - a super easy, personalized choker for your loved one (or for yourself)!
